In the words of the great Kath Day-Knight, “Hallelujah, the drought’s breaking”.
That’s right, folks! The cast of Australia’s favourite sitcom, the iconic Kath & Kim, have reunited this week to film a special which will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the series.
The stars of the show — Gina Riley, Jane Turner, Magda Szubanski, Glenn Robbins and Peter Rowsthorn — are reported to have been filming all week, and yes, the special will include new sketch material that we’re sure will be noice, different and yes, unusual.
We’ll see Kath (Turner), Kim (Riley), Kel (Robbins), Brett (Rowsthorn) and of course, Sharon Strzelecki (Szubanski), as well as fan faves Prue and Trude in newly-filmed scenes. While there won’t be a full new episode, viewers will also be treated to a “a selection of best-of and rare material in the one-off special”, per the Sydney Morning Herald.
The special is filming in Melbourne, and is set to air later this year, so break out the carddonay, here’s everything we know so far.

When Is the Kath & Kim Reunion Coming Out?
Sadly, there’s no official word on this just yet, but SMH said it “will air later this year”, so we have something to look forward to in 2022! Love that for us.
Where Can I Watch the Kath & Kim Special?
Given that Kath & Kim has aired on the ABC, Seven and Netflix since its premiere back in 2002, it’s hard to predict where the reunion special will land, but as soon as there’s an official announcement, we’ll update this post.
With that said, the SMH reported that Seven was the most likely contender.
