Ever since Game of Thrones concluded in 2019, there’s been a collective void in all our hearts. Thankfully, the prequel series House of the Dragon is just around the corner now, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a series more hotly anticipated than this one!
Game of Thrones premiered on HBO way back in 2011, and to say it went on to dominate the decade, would, quite frankly, be an understatement. To call it unavoidable, a cultural juggernaut would still be to undersell it, that’s how impactful it’s been in the entertainment landscape.
In 2016, it became the scripted show with the most Emmy Awards in history, with 38 wins under its belt, and by the time it wrapped up in 2019, it had racked up 160 nominations and 59 wins total. The only series with more Emmys under its belt is Saturday Night Live, which has 86 wins, but they were accumulated over 47 seasons.
Needless to say, the bar for House of the Dragon is high, but from the looks of the cast and trailer, it may just meet those expectations.
Here’s everything we know so far about HBO’s upcoming Game of Thrones prequel spin-off, House of the Dragon.
