Leading pleasure technology brand Womanizer has today announced a new initiative that could help Melbournians in quarantine practise safe self-pleasure.
Known for its patented Pleasure Air™ Technology — exclusive to the Womanizer brand — the sex toy tech company has pledged to give away 100 Womanizer Starlets, worth $119.95, to Victorians in forced isolation who have returned from overseas or interstate travel who might like the device to keep them company.
To nab one, Victorian residents need only head over to safepleasure.com.au to register for a free product with their details of quarantine. The first 100 people to submit will take home a pleasureful present.
Alberto Caccangna, Womanizer APAC general manager, says orgasms are a proven way to relax and de-stress, while promoting better sleep and improved immune function.
“At Womanizer, we are working to destigmatise female self-pleasure and empower women to take their sexual wellbeing into their own hands — literally,” he says.
“It’s incredibly important for people to be practising safe sex during isolation, and unless you are quarantining with a partner, the best way to achieve this is through masturbation.”
You’d think iso masturbation rates would be up (since there’s not much else to do, and getting yourself off is arguably a form of self-care) but recent research from Womanizer predicts that only 24% of women are masturbating in quarantine compared to 51% of men.
As such, Australian psycho-sexologist and Womanizer ambassador, Chantelle Otten, is encouraging women to be part of a movement to shift this statistic into a move even space.
“Based on the latest research into Australian masturbation habits, as well as stubborn social norms that make it more acceptable for men to pleasure themselves, we can assume that a majority of women are missing out on a critical element of self-care,” Otten says.
With an increased amount of time spent at home in a comfortable and familiar environment, Otten says women may have more space and time to focus on their own pleasure and “seek out a deeper connection within ourselves”.
She says: “With so much time on our hands, and the space away from the distractions of a busy life, we’ve all been able to prioritise self-care and really think about what gives us pleasure and makes us happy.”
