Everything You Need to Know About ‘Fargo’ Season 4

Fargo

FX.

In 1997, the Coen brothers — Joel and Ethan — won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for their 1996 film Fargo.

The film was a reality-based crime drama set in Minnesota in 1987 about Jerry Lundegaard (William H. Macy), a car salesman, who got himself into debt and was so desperate for money that he hires two thugs (Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare) to kidnap his own wife.

Following the success of the film, showrunner Noah Hawley turned the idea into an anthology for FX, which is now heading into its fourth season.

Each series is a brand new story, set in a different decade, about average people getting caught up in criminal activity.

Comedian Chris Rock stars in the latest instalment — and if the past three seasons are anything to go by, we’re in for a wild time.

So, what do we already know about season 4 of Fargo?

What’s it about?

Fargo is a story of immigration and assimilation and the things we do for money.

Set in 1950 Kansas City, two criminal syndicates (one Italian, one African-American) fighting for a piece of the American dream have struck an uneasy peace. Together, they control an alternate economy of exploitation, graft and drugs.

To cement their truce, Loy Cannon (Chris Rock), the head of the African American crime family, trades his youngest son Satchel (Rodney Jones), to his enemy Donatello Fadda (Tommaso Ragno), the head of the Italian mafia. In return, Donatello surrenders his youngest son Zero (Jameson Braccioforte) to Loy.

But then the head of the Kansas City mafia goes into the hospital for routine surgery and dies — and everything changes.
