If lockdowns over the past two years didn’t get you thinking about adopting a dog or cat, surely seeing the pets others adopted during that time will. I feel like I can’t even leave my apartment without seeing (and, of course, petting) an excitable puppy.
But if you too are looking to jump on the bandwagon and get a pet, might I suggest that instead of buying from a breeder or pet shop, you consider adopting from a shelter? Because right at this very moment, there are hundreds of dogs and cats at shelters across Australia just waiting for their forever home. And you could give it to them.
If you live in or around Brisbane, here are just a few of those pooches and felines from AWLQ you might want to welcome into your home.
List last updated on November 17, 2021.
Aubrey
Aubrey is a four-year-old German Shepherd mix. As she’s high energy, she’ll need a family who can take her for daily walks. She’ll also need some training on how to behave on a lead as she can be reactive to passing dogs. More info on Aubrey here.
Bart
Bart is a 10-month-old Border Collie, currently in his ‘cheeky teenager phase’. He’s be best suited to be the only dog in a home, but if you do have another well-adjusted dog already, bring them in to see if they get along with Bart. More info on Bart here.
Bruce
Bruce is a one-year-old Blue Tabby, currently at a Gold Coast shelter. After just over a week in the shelter, he’s ready to find a loving home. More info on Bruce here.
Milo
Milo is a nearly five-year-old domestic short hair cat with ginger and white fur. He’s only been at a Gold Coast shelter for a few days. More info on Milo here.
Sawyer
Sawyer is a three-year-old domestic short hair cat who loves cuddles and pats. He’d best suit a family who could interact with him a lot throughout the day. More info on Sawyer here.
