These Adorable Victorian Cats and Dogs Are Just Waiting for You to Adopt Them

Fiori

In the last nearly two years of lockdowns, chances are you’ve thought at least once about getting a pet. Even if you have one already, you might’ve thought about getting another. And it makes sense — you’re feeling uncertain about the state of the country and a pet who gives you unconditional love and attention could be the exact stability you need.

But, when thinking about getting a pet, have you thought about adopting? Instead of buying a pooch or cat, have you considered visiting your local shelter and seeing if there are any available there? Because chances are — there are.

In fact, we thought we’d highlight some of the fantastic dogs and cats in Victoria just waiting for you to potentially be their forever home. From a four-year-old, super affectionate dog, to a pleasant, three-year-old cat, these are the current pets up for adoption through Save-A-Dog shelter in Glen Iris, Victoria.

And if you do wind up adopting, you might want to consider whether getting pet insurance is right for you. Budget Direct offers Pet Insurance with 15% off your first year’s premium when you buy online (T&Cs apply). Find out what they cover and if it’s right for you by heading to their website. And, if you already have a pet, you can enter to win a $250 voucher, by telling us what you love about them here.

List last updated on October 6.

Dodge

Four-year-old Dodge is ready to show his affection to anyone who’ll let him. His ideal owner will be strong, experienced in dog training and able to be around during the day. More info on Dodge here.

Hope

Hope is a three-year-old cat with a pleasant and gentle nature. Though she loves attention and being around people, she’d do best in a quieter home. More info on Hope here.

Fiori

Five-year-old Fiori is true to his guarding breed – calm and quiet. He needs a home with someone who has experience with large guarding breeds and wouldn’t be suited to a suburban backyard. More info on Fiori here.

Arthur

Arthur, seven years old, is a definite people dog. But for that reason, he can’t be left alone. In saying that, he’s undemanding once he knows you’re nearby. He’d best suit a household with no other dogs. More info on Arthur here.

Pilot

Ten-month-old Pilot would thrive in a home with a younger, playful other feline that will be his partner in crime. He’ll also need to be in a home with adults or teenage kids. More info on Pilot here.

PilotSimba

Five-year-old Simba is independent and curious. He’d suit a household with no other cats as he prefers the company of people, not felines. He’s happy to have company in the day or to be at home on his own. More info on Simba here.

Bertram

Bertram is a three-year-old cat with a friendly personality. He would do best with a family who experience with shy cats as they can give him the attention he deserves. He’s confident once he feels comfortable. More info on Bertram here.
