April 7 marked World Health Day (WHD), a particularly poignant celebration during the coronavirus global pandemic.
Celebrated annually, WHD pays tributes to nurses, doctors and healthcare professionals who work tirelessly to keep our world healthy on a day-to-day basis.
While many celebrations took place on social media, none was more magical than the most wonderful place(s) on earth tribute to the workers.
Even though closed to visitors, Disneyland and Disney World parks across the globe have honoured the health sector by lighting up its infamous Cinderella castles in shades of blue as a thank you to the medical professionals.
“We are uniting across the globe with a message of thanks and appreciation to celebrate the brave healthcare providers who are helping so many,” a post on the Disney Parks Blog read.
Shanghai Disney Resort
Shanghai Disney Resort was the first to start the celebration with the Enchanted Storybook Castle lit up with the words “thank you” in numerous languages.
Magic Kingdom Park
Cinderella Castle shined blue, as “a beacon of hope and gratitude” at Magic Kingdom.
Disneyland Paris
At Disneyland Paris, a special floral arrangement of “Merci” adorned the front of the castle.
Disney Cruise Line
Disney Cruise Line spelled the words “thank you” in thongs at Castaway Cay.
Other Disney outlets such as Walt Disney Imagineering, Hong Kong Disneyland, Tokyo Disney Resort, Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea and Disneyland Resort in California also shared other touching tributes with floral arrangements, cast members and even billboards.
Dr. Mark Penning – Vice President of Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment team – shared a special “thank you” video from his entire team of animal caregivers, scientists and environmental specialists.
How magical!
