Backstage Pass: The Secret ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Details You Need to Know

Dancing With the Stars Australia: Behind the scenes

Instagram

Dancing, how hard can it be? The Dancing With the Stars Australia cast certainly make it seem effortless. In last year’s finale, Human Nature’s Phil Burton went up against Home and Away’s Emily Weir, and they both freestyled across the stage with ease. When Phil finished twirling to Wilson Pickett’s “Land of 1000 Dances”, he made winning this show appear straightforward.

However, a peek behind the scenes of Dancing With the Stars will reveal a different story — one of long days, hard work, and endurance. Of course, there are also laughs and gags to be shared between competitors, too!

This year is no different. On Dancing With the Stars 2024, the behind the scenes details prove that dancing, in fact, isn’t easy. Here’s what we know.

Dancing With the Stars: The Behind the Scenes Details

The Dancing Days Are Long Ones

Going from being a novice dancer to a professional takes a lot of time and work. One of the Dancing With the Stars’ new cast members, Nova Peris, expressed this best in an Instagram post.

Nova is best known for being the first Aboriginal person to win an Olympic gold medal, which she did at the 1996 games as a member of the Hockeyroos.

“Eight-hour days of training, training, training!” Nova said. “This season of Dancing With the Stars Australia will be epic!”

Another person to comment on this routine is the iconic fashion designer, Nadia Bartel. In an interview, Nadia explained that while training for Dancing With the Stars is immensely rewarding, it’s not always straightforward.

“Training is much harder than I thought it would be, and it’s been a bit of a juggle trying to fit it in with my schedule with the boys and work, but I’m loving it,” Nadia said.

“This show is so far out of my wheelhouse, so different to anything I have ever done before, but I feel like these opportunities have to be taken. Life is too short to say no to something like this.”

The Dancers Buddy Up Between Takes

While you might imagine that there are numerous rivalries between the Dancing With the Stars Australia cast members, behind the scenes, this isn’t the case. In fact, they are super supportive of each other’s work.

You can see this on full display in another Instagram post from Nadia, which shows her goofing around backstage with comedian Nikki Osborne.

“Killing time in the Dancing With the Stars Australia green room with the hilarious Nikki Osborne,” Nadia wrote.

However, when it comes to the dance floor, both Nadia and Nikki won’t hold anything back. Nikki confirmed as much in an Instagram post of her own.

Dancing With the Stars won’t know what’s hit it,” Nikki said. “I’m good or in a bad way is yet to be determined. Welcome to team: Go Hard or Go Home.”

The Celebrities Get Close to Their Teachers

On Dancing With the Stars Australia, each celebrity is teamed up with a professional dancing instructor. Over the course of the season, these two competitors can become close.

This is the case for the actor Lisa McCune and her instructor Ian Waite. In an Instagram post, Lisa thanked Ian for being an excellent teacher.

“Spent my birthday dancing with the very lovely, talented Ian Waite,” Lisa said. “Thanks for going easy on me fella! And thank you for the cakes.”

Another celebrity who is grateful for their dance partner is the Better Homes and Gardens tradie, Adam Dovile.

As Adam said on Instagram, “My amazingly talented dance partner Jessica Raffa has taken me under her wing, been working me hard, to teach me some exciting routines, and I can’t wait to show you all my moves!”

All of the Costumes Have Been Tailored

There’s no denying it, each Dancing With the Stars Australia costume is incredible. For instance, Nikki is wearing a stunning Barbie pink dress in an upcoming dance. On Instagram, a commenter asked where she got the dress. Niki responded by saying that it was tailored by Dancing With the Stars Australia’s design team to her proportions.

As it stands, not many of these costumes have been revealed, but we can’t wait to bask in them all when the show premieres.
