While cinema, like all the arts, has been hit by the pandemic, you just can’t keep a good film down. Although we’ve been deprived of a lot of our favourite actors, directors, and experiences, the film industry has been bubbling away preparing a storm of new blockbusters.
Right now, there’s some serious firepower in cinemas. We’ve got the star-studded action-thriller Eternals starring Gemma Chan and Richard Madden (and, if the rumours are to be believed, Harry Styles) plus the much-anticipated 007 movie, No Time To Die, with Daniel Craig at the helm for the final time.
Perhaps most excitingly, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings brings an incredible — and almost entirely Asian-lead — cast to the big screen while Jamie-Lee Curtis stars in Halloween Kills, which offers us the seasonal escapism none of us really need.
Coming up, we’ve got some huge numbers, too, with December set to make up for lost time at the cinemas. The reboot Dune brings Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya to the same screen as Jason Momoa and Oscar Isaac, for an epic sci-fi coming-of-age story.
Meanwhile, the Broadway hit, Dear Evan Hansen, sees Ben Platt reprise his iconic role for the big screen, and after years of delays, Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch will finally bring his pastel, campy drama to the movies. And Ryan Reynolds is doing what Ryan Reynolds does best in Free Guy.
