From a Trendy Motel, to a Beautiful Beach House, the Best Places to Stay in Yamba

While surfers have long known about the NSW coastal town of Yamba, in recent years, others are increasingly catching on. And the town, called by many ‘the new Byron’, is keeping up with its steady stream of visitors with a slew of new and updated accommodations.

From a trendy hotel, with pops of yellow and blue and a design-forward, curved exterior, to the top floor of a beautiful seaside building with a balcony overlooking Mian Beach and stylish interiors, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite places to stay in Yamba here.

The Surf Yamba

Perched on Yamba’s famous headland, overlooking the southern end of Main Beach, The Surf Yamba is centrally located, just metres from Yamba’s Main Beach and within walking distance to dining, entertainment and parks. Its highlight is easily its rooftop, on which you’ll find a heated plunge pool, yellow-striped sun loungers and views of the glistening, blue sea beyond.

Pacific Hotel Yamba

While Pacific Hotel Yamba is an institution in the area, its northern wing recently underwent a million-dollar renovation. There, you’ll find the hotel’s premium ‘signature’ accommodation. The hotel also has its traditional and more affordable ‘pub rooms’ with shared bathroom facilities. Note that the hotel is only for adults over 18, and that with entertainment downstairs four nights a week, it can get noisy.

Beach House Yamba

Beach House Yamba on Pilot Hill is bookable through Booking.com or Airbnb. It’s a two-bedroom, one-bathroom, top-floor space, ideal for a family or group of friends. The building was built in the 1950s, but the Beach House bit was newly restored. Spend your afternoons here soaking up the sun on its deck, admiring views over Main Beach and Lovers Point.

The Boathouse

Tucked in a tranquil spot along Clarence River, The Boathouse is a light-filled, double-storey home that sleeps two. After exploring its nearby beaches, cafés and shops using its free-to-use push bikes, cook up dinner here to enjoy on the balcony overlooking the river. Afterward, stay on the balcony for sunset or head downstairs to the cosy lounge room to curl up with a book.

The Carmel Yamba

At The Carmel Yamba, you’ll find rooms, suites and apartments, set in tropical gardens, complete with a saltwater pool and tennis courts. The resort also boasts a library and outdoor lounge area, vintage book rental and paddleboards and surfboards rental. The hotel partnered with locals to provide guests with bookable quintessential Yamba experiences.

Blue Dolphin Holiday Resort

Whatever your accommodation need, Blue Dolphin has something to suit, with options ranging from campsites, caravan park spots and ensuite cabins, to poolside villas and water view units. And, once you arrive, you’ll have little reason to leave — the property has putt-putt, a pool and swim-up bar and even a water park.

The Cove Yamba

The Cove apartments caters for all budgets and group sizes — it’s got one to three bedroom apartments, all with their own private balcony, motel rooms and studios. Guests here also get free access to the Beachside Leisure Centre, across the street at The Sands Resort, which has a pool, tennis courts and a barbecue area.

Yamba Beach Motel

Yamba Beach Motel is an affordable accommodation option, with an outdoor pool, an onsite restaurant and café called Sandbar and, conveniently, guest laundry. The nicest room, Superior Ocean View Room, has a balcony that overlooks Main Beach, as well as a kitchenette.
