‘The Traitors’: Chloe Explains Her Decision to Quit the Game

When clairvoyant Chloe first joined Network Ten’s latest reality competition series The Traitors, she was excited to be confronted with sceptics, and hoped to convince them of her psychic prowess.

“I would love to have a sceptic in this game because I can change their mind,” she said in a press release ahead of the show’s premiere.

Once she was in the game and had met her fellow competitors, Chloe accused Kashindi, Marielle, Angus and Teresa of being Traitors. She was half right — while Marielle and Angus are indeed Traitors this season, Kashindi was wrongfully banished, and Teresa isn’t a Traitor, either. Rather, Nigel and Claire are the other two Traitors.

On Tuesday’s episode, the competitors were surprised, then, to find that Chloe had decided to quit the game.

In an interview with 10 Play, Chloe explained her shock exit, calling her time on the show “a really intense experience”.

“A lot of people had told me that they didn’t want to hear what I had to say, so I gave them that. I just decided I’m not going to speak,” Chloe told the outlet.

Chloe went on to recall feeling uncomfortable in the situation, which prompted her to make her early departure, although “it wasn’t an easy decision to make”.

“I just remember thinking I don’t want to be here, this environment doesn’t feel secure for my energy, for my wellbeing, and no one valued what I had to say. I knew that I needed to go,” she said.

Despite having some hesitations about quitting, in hindsight, Chloe said that she has no regrets.

“I did it for myself and, truthfully, I feel that was the best choice I could make,” she said. “I’m happy with my choice.”

Regarding her assessment that Angus and Marielle were Traitors, Chloe said that she knew they were ones to watch “way before the show” even began — because a spirit told her.

“I communicated with – I have no idea who the spirit was, to be honest — but they were like ‘there’s going to be a long-haired male with brown hair and a female with brown hair and fair skin’,” Chloe said. “When I saw them I thought, oh yeah, you’re going to be the Traitors.”

As for Nigel and Claire, the two Traitors she didn’t predict, Chloe said that she was “really suspicious” of them both, along with Dirk.

“I remember [Nigel] gave me this look in the eyes and I was like oh, you’re a Traitor!” she said.

As for Teresa and Kashindi, her two incorrect accusations, Chloe said that it was “more with how they spoke to [her]” than a matter of her “intuitively believing” them to be guilty.

“I had four for four, I had it and I remember walking out and getting home and I was like… Chloe, you had all four! But it is what it is. It would ruin the game if I had said all four! So it’s better that I didn’t,” she said.

Will any of the Faithfuls be able to correctly sniff out all four Traitors? Only time will tell. Until then…

The Traitors airs at 7.30pm Sunday — Tuesdays, only on 10 and 10 Play on Demand.
