She was tipped to be in the top two from the very beginning and now Irena Srbinovska has walked away with Locky Gilbert’s heart.
The 31-year-old has beat out 25-year-old Bella Varelis in a dramatic finale ending a whirlwind season.
At the beginning of the episode, Gilbert admitted his confusion, saying that he loved them both and could even see himself being married to either of them. And the confusion continued, because during her meeting with Gilbert’s mum, the nurse told her she had fallen in love with her son.
“The moment I saw Locky on the red carpet, I imagined my life with him,” she said.
During their final date, Gilbert told Srbinovska that he was scared of ruining what they had.
“I’m so scared because you’re so perfect, I don’t want to ruin it,” he told her before she admitted: “Locky makes me the happiest. I can’t wipe the smile off my face when I’m with him.”
Concluding their date, Srbinovska told him that they “would have an amazing adventure” together.
“I’ve fallen in love with ya,” Gilbert told her. Aww!
After Varelis walked out on him, Gilbert told Srbinovska how he felt.
“When I’m with you I feel so calm and comfortable. I know you’re going to make a beautiful girlfriend, wife, mother. Everything, you’re the whole package.
“Irena, I’m so in love with you and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”
Srbinovska and Gilbert seem like the perfect match. They’re at the same stage in life and want the same things for their futures.
In an interview with The Daily Mail, eHarmony’s dating expert, Sharon Draper, said that she thought they were “very compatible”.
“They have good energy, seem very compatible and also hold shared core values for what is important in life,” she said.
While sparks flew between Gilbert and Srbinovska, her rivalry with Varelis seemed to overshadow the rest of the series. A key season plot point depicted Varelis trying to turn Gilbert against her, but the nurse managed to remain calm and focused on what she was there for.
Throughout the series run, Gilbert maintained that he was still with the winner and very much in love.
Ultimately, Srbinovska’s maturity and the pair’s sizzling chemistry paid off, and she walked away with her bachelor.
