Australian Survivor is back and better than ever. This season, the theme is Blood Vs Water, and pits contestants against their loved ones. Brutal!

This season also boasts some big names. Not only do we have Michael Crocker, an ex-NFL player, and Khanh Ong, who you may recognise from MasterChef Australia, we also have the one, the ONLY, Sandra Diaz-Twine, the very first two-time winner of U.S Survivor.

Will Sandra be able to make it to the end and win the game for a third time, becoming the show’s ONLY three-time winner?

Look, we’ll be honest with you. It seems unlikely. In fact, when we spoke to Sandra ahead of the season, she said that she doesn’t go into new seasons thinking she can win.

“I don’t think that they’ll allow me to get to the end and win anymore! But I give it my all,” she said.

“People say, ‘if she doesn’t win, she’s gonna damage her reputation’, but I love Survivor,” she said. “I could play 20 more times and lose 20 more times and still want to play the game and do the best that I can.”

Then again, she also didn’t think she’d be able to win her second season, Heroes Vs Villains, back in 2010, and she did that.

“I went out there for Heroes Vs Villains with the mentality that I’m gonna play as long as they allow me to play,” she said. “Winners are always known to go first. And then there I was, at the damn end of the game against Parvati [Shallow]!”

With Sandra, we know better than to count her out, because if anyone’s prepared to put up a fight, it’s her!

On the less prepared side, we have Chrissy Zaremba, who’s been charming the audience.

A “full-time mummy, part-time teacher” from the Sunshine Coast, Chrissy joked in her promo that she was most excited to be “getting a break from [her] kids” by escaping to the brutal landscape of Charter Towers to film Survivor.

Within the span of the first episode, Chrissy called Tribal Council “Tribunal Council”, got bitten by an ant, realised she hates the outdoors and didn’t want to eat rice and beans for 47 days, found an idol clue, asked her tribe mates “does everyone have to vote?” mere hours before Tribal Council, snatched up the very Public Immunity Idol that was hidden at Tribal Council, and immediately flushed it.

It was… a lot! TBH though, we can’t wait to see more, and we’re hoping Chrissy goes far into the game.

Still, this is Australian Survivor, and someone’s gotta get their torch snuffed.
