You may not have heard the name Joe Woodbury until now, but The Bachelorette’s Elly Miles certainly has.
The 25-year-old footy player from Newcastle met with a very familiar face at the end of the red carpet. “It’s a small world,” he tells the sisters in a promo which aired before the season even began.
Now that we know Elly and Woodbury know each other, it’s time for us to get to know him too.
According to the Cessnock Advertiser, Woodbury grew up in Cessnock and now lives in Newcastle — where Elly lived before moving to Sydney earlier in the year. The footballer is a mechanic by trade, however, is an agile and fast sportsman on the field.
A quick Facebook search and Woodbury’s eclectic taste in pop culture can tell you a little bit about his personality. He’s a mad sports fan, likes Shannon Noll, Ruel and Ben Monteith plus likes a ton of different festivals including Field Day, Falls Music Festival, Groovin’ the Moo and the now-defunct (“shredding for”) Stereosonic.
Films he likes include Dodgeball, Van Wilder, Benchwarmers and the lesser-known Australian tear-jerker, Red Dog
And then there are his TV shows. My Name is Earl, Family Guy, The Simpsons, South Park. Must we go on?
While not much else is known about Elly’s “mate”, we do know that the pair are official Instagram pals, already commenting on each other’s posts.
Is this a sign of things to come? Probably not…
