Pack your bags because we’re heading to Thailand for season 3 of White Lotus!
As per reports from Variety, apparently, a number of sources close to the production of the anticipated third installment of the hit TV series have spilled the tea on the show’s location.
While there has been no official confirmation from HBO, all signs are pointing to the popular South-East Asian holiday hotspot as the scene of the next murderous vacation *dun dun duuuuun*.
With The White Lotus season finale scoring 4.1 million viewers on the day of its release in the US alone, not to mention the first season picking up 10 of the 20 Emmy Awards it was nominated for, it’s no surprise the show will be back for a third instalment.
Back in January, White Lotus creator, Mike White, released a very telling video (via journalist Evan Ross Katz’s Instagram) filmed on the pristine beaches of a holiday resort.
“I am in Thailand,” he said while panning to the ocean.

If that isn’t a rather large ‘wink, wink, nudge, nudge’ then I don’t know what is!
“I think the third season will be a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality,” White said in the Unpacking feature that accompanied the season finale. “It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus.”
If you didn’t know, ‘Eastern religion’ refers to religions originating in Asia, including Buddhism, Sikhism, Hinduism and Confucianism, which further doubles down on the next season being set in Asia.
This is, of course, backed by White saying on the red carpet of the Season 2 preview: “I think it’d be fun to maybe go to a whole different continent. You know, we did Europe, and maybe Asia… would be fun.”
Seeing as the first two seasons of The White Lotus used real life Four Seasons resorts as stand-ins for the fictional White Lotus hotels, there’s a strong chance a branch of the resort chain will once again be used.
Following the final episode of season 2, we left the cast in Taormina, Italy along with the sad demise of favourite guest, Tanya McQuoid, played by the wonderful Jennifer Coolidge. Many fans are wondering where season 3 will go without the star of the show — could they go back in time? Will they include flashbacks of Tanya? What I’m trying to tell Mike White is: ‘please can you bring back Tanya from the dead?!’
Despite many plot lines up in the air, one thing we know for sure is that there will be death, excess, privilege, a pivotal resort manager, and plenty of buffets. And I for one cannot wait for it to all go down in Thailand.
