Was ‘Million Dollar Island’ Filmed on a Million Dollar Island?

Fun fact alert: Million Dollar Island wasn’t filmed on an island called The Million Dollar Island. Perhaps it’s not that much of a surprise, but it’s still a tad disappointing — after all, it would be the perfect place to jail Elon Musk for making bad tweets. So where was Million Dollar Island filmed?

Well, Million Dollar Island rebranded a preexisting island. No signs were painted over. Channel Seven didn’t spark a revolution.

However, such info might not sate your desire for knowledge. Where was Channel Seven’s Million Dollar Island filmed? Let’s answer this question right now.

Million Dollar Island Filming Location

Million Dollar Island was filmed on an island in the Langkawi archipelago region.

Langkawi is a series of 99 stunning islands that stretch across the northwest coast of Malaysia. These islands feature a mix of paddy fields, jungled hills, beaches, waterfalls, and fishing grounds. It possesses an adventurous energy that made it the perfect fit for both the Million Dollar Island filming location, as well as its wild premise.

However, Langkawi is also remarkably gorgeous. From the glass-clear ocean to the pillow white sand, these islands were designed to relax on. Such beauty is the perfect backdrop for Channel Seven’s Million Dollar Island. It juxtaposes wonderfully with the drama that each contestant is grappling with.

While they were filming Million Dollar Island, the temperature ranged between 25C and 38C, and the humidity ranged between 70% and 90%. Meanwhile, we’ll be enjoying this series from the comfort of our winter blankeys.

Seven hasn’t disclosed exactly which Langkawi island their Million Dollar Island was filmed on. Perhaps they want to keep it a secret, just in case we get Season 2 next year.

Million Dollar Island airs at 7.30pm Mondays and Tuesdays, only on 7 and 7 Plus. Miss an episode? Catch up on 7 Plus.
