This season of Big Brother Australia will be one for the ages. Big Brother Royalty Vs New Contenders is just around the corner, and will mark the return of many familiar faces in the Big Brother house.
A television event 21 years in the making, the 2022 season of Big Brother Australia will see the return of some of the most memorable and iconic characters from previous seasons, including 2003 winner Regina “Reggie” Bird, Farmer Dave Graham, and Trevor Butler.
It’s no secret that Big Brother loves chaos, and chaos is sure to reign supreme this year when they reunite former love birds Anthony Drew and Tully Smyth, who had one of the most scandalous and tumultuous relationships in Australian reality television history back in 2013. That’s not all, of course. Also joining the show this year is Drew’s current girlfriend, Sam.
Of course, it’s been many years since some of our Big Brother Royalty have played the game, and the game has changed and evolved a lot in that time. Will they be able to keep up in the current iteration of Big Brother? Will being a returning player put an immediate target on their backs? Some seem to think so.
“From the minute I walk into the door, I will have a target on my back because I’m one of the most popular housemates in the history of Big Brother,” said Bird.
Returning Royalty Tim Dormer echoed the sentiment, saying he’ll “definitely” have a target on his back “for being a strategic mastermind who the Australian public already voted once to win”.
“I will have to try convincing them that I have no idea what I’m doing this time around and win their trust with my charm!” Dormer added.
Still, even with the targets on their backs and their past Big Brother histories, our Royalty can’t wait to see how it all unfolds.
Calling her first experience “a rollercoaster, to say the least”, Smyth said that her first Big Brother experience was “a really humbling period of self-discovery”.
“It was really dark some days, but I’ve come out on the other side better for it,” she said. “Absolutely no regrets. I’m, back aren’t I? So, it can’t have been that bad!”
All of this begs the question: When can we tune in?!
Big Brother Royalty Vs New Contenders will premiere on Monday, May 9, only on Channel 7 and 7 Plus.
