M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Servant’ Is Back for Season 2

Servant

WARNING: This article contains spoilers for season one of Servant.

TV’s creepiest reborn baby is back for a second season.

Following a suspenseful season one finale, the second season of the thriller, Servant, takes a supernatural turn with a darker future for all.

Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under), Toby Kebbell (Becoming), Nell Tiger Free (Too Old to Die Young) and new-dad Rupert Grint (Snatch) will all reprise their characters for this next instalment which will centre upon Leanne’s (Tiger Free) return to the brownstone where her true nature will be revealed.

Season one followed the story of a Philadelphia couple — Dorothy (Ambrose) and Sean Turner (Kebbell) — in mourning after an unspeakable tragedy (the death of their child) creates a rift in their marriage and opens the door for a mysterious force to enter their home.

Dorothy hires a young nanny (Leanne) to help care for their newborn child, Jericho — which after its death is replaced with a reborn child, however, mysteriously comes to life again. It’s some seriously spooky stuff.

In the season finale, Leanne takes Jericho away, leaving behind the reborn doll which is where season two will carry on.

Executive produced by Academy Award-nominated director M. Night Shyamalan, the 10-episode series will premiere globally on Apple TV+ with the first episode on January 15 2021, followed by new episodes weekly, every Friday.

The trailer, which was released by Apple TV+ in Australia on November 16, shows the family dealing with the aftermath of Jericho’s disappearance until Leanne arrives back at their home.

The family is left reeling wondering what has happened to their child, and once again, the mystery of Jericho and his nanny divides them.

Back in January, writer and creator Tony Basgallop told EW that Dorothy will now see the doll for the first time.

“She’s no longer picking up this doll and being deluded into thinking it’s a baby. However, she still does believe that her baby is out here,” he said, before adding the questions about Leanne that may be answered.

“Does she have the ability to produce a baby out of thin air? Was it stolen from the street or was it brought miraculously? That moment where she steps out with the baby, having convinced herself that Dorothy and her family are not deserving of this miracle she delivered to them, and there are all these people waiting for her, there’s a very supernatural air to it.”
