Everything You Need To Know About the New Uber Pass Subscription

Great news: Uber now has a subscription on offer, which gives dedicated Uber-users cheap food, cheap rides and free delivery.

Launching in Australia today, Uber’s new subscription service Uber Pass will give millions of Australians access to a range of perks across both Uber rides and Uber Eats restaurants, improving accessibility, mobility and connectivity.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new subscription.

What is Uber Pass?

Uber Pass is a monthly subscription offered by Uber. By signing up, you’ll have access to discounted same-day delivery options, as well as consistent savings on travel. It costs $14.99 per month.

Lucky for us, Australia is one of the first countries in the world to provide the combined Uber and UberEats offer, which means that Uber Pass Members are able to connect those two — equally crucial — services under one membership.

“The Uber platform has become a gateway to the world of e-commerce and small business and an increasingly valuable accessory for everyday life – every hour of the day. From providing a host of mobility choices through to grocery, convenience, alcohol and pharmacy,” Uber wrote in a blog post. “The Uber app is connecting more people with more businesses and opportunities across Australia and we’re going to have these evergreen features embedded into Uber Pass on day one.”

What does an Uber Pass get you?

If you sign up for an Uber Pass subscription for $14.99 per month, you will receive:

  • At least 10% off rides (excluding Pool and Hourly)
  • $0 Delivery Fee from select restaurants with a $20 minimum basket*
  • $0 Delivery Fee from select grocery and convenience stores with a $20 minimum basket*
  • A refreshed carousel of exclusive member perks — launching with a $20 grocery voucher

How much does an Uber Pass cost?

An Uber Pass costs AUD $14.99 per month, which given that most Uber Eats delivery fees average around $5, it’s a pretty fair price per month. Of course, it’s yet to be seen how many restaurants fit into their ‘select’ category, but we’re hoping that it’s all our local faves. Additionally, the $20 grocery voucher outweighs the first month’s investment, which kinda means you can give it a trial run without too much financial stress.

Interestingly, the Australian version of Uber Pass is cheaper than its US counterpart, which costs USD$25 per month.

Can I cancel my Uber Pass subscription?

Uber Pass works on a recurring payment basis upon sign up, so yes you can cancel, you’ll just need to manually do so before the start of the next billing cycle. Uber also confirmed that Uber Vouchers and Gift Cards cannot be used to pay for Uber Pass.

How do I sign up?

According to Uber, the new Uber Pass membership option will be available to most accounts before May 25. In order to unlock Uber Pass, you need to:

On the Uber app

  • Open the app
  • Select the three vertical dashes on the top left of the screen
  • Select Uber Pass and follow the prompts.

On the Uber Eats app

  • Launch the app
  • Select account (bottom right)
  • Scroll down to select Uber Pass and follow the prompts
