Is Uber One Membership Actually Worth It?

Uber One membership

If you’ve been using the Uber or Uber Eats app recently, you would’ve seen a pop-up asking you if you wanted an Uber One membership.

Formerly called Uber Eats Pass, Uber One launched in November 2021 and aims to help people who frequently use Uber rides and Uber Eats save money.

Uber One costs $9.99 a month, and there’s no minimum commitment so you can cancel anytime. Its two biggest perks are free delivery from thousands of merchants on Uber Eats and 5% credit on all Uber rides. You’ll also get up to 30% off your Uber Eats service fee, a $5 credit if your Uber Eats estimated delivery time isn’t right, and priority access to top-rated drivers on Uber.

Plus, “Uber One exclusive offers” which, in June 2023, includes discounts at thousands of restaurants across Australia, savings at grocers like Coles and Woollies, and offers from local bottle-os. Members in June will also get $15 off their Reserve trip and 20% off Uber Pool and Uber Comfort trips.

“While we know the average Australian already saves nearly $30 a month with Uber One, we hope by boosting that savings pool to potentially north of $200 this month, that every member is able to mark the halfway point of 2023 in a memorable way,” says Alice Hudson, Head of Uber One in Australia.

So, is Uber One actually worth getting? Like with any membership, it really depends on how much you use Uber. Uber Eats delivery charges are around $3-$5, so, if you’re ordering several times a month, the membership would pay for itself with the savings on Uber rides a bonus.

With Uber no longer doing its other savings initiatives Uber Pass and Uber Rewards, it’s also a one-stop-shop for savings.

If you do get Uber One and then decide you don’t want it, you can cancel it in the app. Tap the profile icon, then ‘Uber One’, scroll down and tap ‘Manage Membership’ and then ‘End Membership’.
