With the release of season four of The Crown, avid royal fans of the Netflix series have flocked to the new instalment like a very British duck to the River Thames.
Naturally, their eagle eyes have been so engrossed in the lives of the queen and her political counterpart, Margaret Thatcher, that they’ve almost missed another very important cameo. A mouse.
We’re not sure if it was intentional or not, but if you watch the video in the tweet below, you will see an actual critter running across the screen. It’s hard not to miss once you see it so maybe one of the editors was having a laugh?

Of course, this is not the first time in history something out of the ordinary was misplaced in a TV episode or film.
For fans of Game of Thrones, the eighth and final season of the series was controversial for many reasons. But when a lonely modern-day coffee cup appeared in one of the scenes after a victory celebration, people couldn’t believe what they were seeing.
While cast members have pointed the finger at each other for the gaff, series creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss thought it was just one big prank.
The two writers spoke with author James Hibberd about his upcoming book Fire Cannot Kill a Dragon — a behind-the-scenes look at the series.
According to an excerpt obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, they “couldn’t believe it”.
“When we got the email about it the next day, I honestly thought someone was pranking us, because there had been things before where people were like, ‘Oh, look at that plane in the background!’ and somebody had Photoshopped it in. I thought, ‘There’s no way there’s a coffee cup in there.’ Then when I saw it on the TV I was like, ‘How did I not see that?’” Benioff said.
Weiss revealed that they had “seen that shot one thousand times and we’re always looking at their faces or how the shot sat with the shots on either side of it.”
“I felt like we were the participants in a psychology experiment, like where you don’t see the gorillas running around in the background because you’re counting the basketballs,” he said.
Luckily for the creators, this is not the first snafu in the history of entertainment. We compiled a list of all the other times fans have spotted something out-of-place in TV and film.
☆ The Stray Water Bottle in Little Women (2020)
We didn’t know water bottles were invented in the 1800s, but according to Greta Gerwig’s Little Women, it looks like they did.

☆ The Exit Sign in O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)
George Clooney’s O Brother, Where Art Thou was set in the 1930s and we’re pretty sure neon “exit” lights weren’t invented then!
☆ The Gas Cylinder in Gladiator (2000)
Last we checked, horse-drawn chariots did not need gas bottles to work, however, in the case of Gladiator, a slight mishap shows a cylinder in the back of one of the chariots.
☆ The White Car in Braveheart (1995)
We’ll set the scene. 13th-century Scotland. Horses, armour and a white car.
“They may take our lives, but they’ll never take…OUR FREEDOM!” because they can literally just get into the car and drive away.
☆ The Cowboy in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)
We don’t think Captain Jack Sparrow would approve of a man with a cowboy hat on the Black Pear, but alas, there he is.
☆ Dudley’s shorts in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2003)
This one isn’t as obvious as a water bottle or coffee cup, but Reddit fans spotted Dudley Dursley (Harry Melling) wearing shorts with the G-Unit logo. The film is set in 1995 and the shorts weren’t sold until 2003.
☆ The boom microphone in The Mandalorian (2020)
On the fourth episode of Disney Plus The Mandalorian, a boom mic was spotted about 16 minutes in. Oops!
