All of the Winners from the 2021 Tony Awards (Which Were Back and Better Than Ever)

tony awards 2021

The 74th Annual Tony Awards were back in 2021 after being cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic. The event, which recognises the achievements of Broadway and its performers and creators was, this year, also a celebration of the resilience and the return of Broadway after an incredibly trying 18 months.

The awards show was held as a four-hour special hosted by Audra McDonald and Leslie Odom Jr, and featuring performances from the three Best Musical nominees including the Australian-produced Moulin Rouge! The Musical.

Included in the performers, along with the cast of Moulin Rouge!, will be the casts of Tina: The Tina Turner Musicaland Jagged Little Pill, the latter of which was up for a staggering 15 nominations in total.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical — which is competing for 14 Tonys — is the first Australian-produced musical to originate on Broadway and will have its Australian premiere this year at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre, with global productions set to open in London’s West End in November and Tokyo in 2023.
