After a nearly two-year hiatus, The Witcher is about to return to screens, and we couldn’t be more excited!
The first season of the fantasy drama was a smash hit for streaming giant Netflix, but faced a long delay in the production of season two once Covid hit.
Along with Henry Cavill, co-stars Freya Allan, Anya Chalotra, Joey Batey and Royce Pierreson are all set to return, and the new season looks as intense as ever.
Game of Thrones actor Kristofer Hivju will join the cast this season, playing a boar-man named Nivellen.
He narrates the opening lines of the ominous trailer as he talks to Cavill’s character, Geralt.

“Something has changed, Geralt,” he says. “The world’s acting strange these days.
“The North and South at war. Monsters roaming when they should be hibernating. Maybe it’s the end of days,” he muses.
Unfazed, Geralt responds: “I’ve lived through three supposed ‘end of days.’ It’s all horsesh*t,” which is giving us big ‘Buffy facing another apocalypse’ energy TBH!
Still, he goes on to say that “none of us will have any peace until there are no monsters left in this world”, which feels like a big task to accomplish!
Netflix’s synopsis for season two is: “Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.”
The trailer is action-packed and promises epic fights across grand sets, and will drop on Netflix on December 17. While there are only eight episodes, the show has already been renewed for a third season, so at least we can rest easy knowing that more eps are on the way.
