The Traitors’ Angus on Being a Traitor and Who He Thinks Will Win

the traitors 2022 angus

The Traitors only kicked off a few weeks ago, but already, we’ve said goodbye to a whopping 11 players. We’ve watched on as the TraitorsNigel, Marielle, Claire and Angus — murdered five of the competitors, said goodbye to Chloe when she quit, and perhaps most bafflingly, watched as the Faithful voted out four of their fellow Faithfuls.

All of that changed this week, though, as the Faithfuls (along with a little help from Nigel and Marielle) finally managed to correctly select Angus as a Traitor and banish him from the game.

Being selected as a Traitor means living a double life; you spend your days trying to convince the Faithfuls that you’re one of them, and spend your nights plotting to murder them.

Chatting to The Latch, Angus said that he was mostly excited to be selected to play the game as a Traitor because it meant there was no way he’d be the first one to go.

“The very first thing that went through my mind was ‘thank God I’m not the first person getting voted out of the show!’” he laughed.

“I was stoked to make it through the first night, and then I just figured, I’m happy to get through the first night and then I can come in all guns blazing with my strategy.”

Before the show began, Angus had said in a press statement that he was ready to play hard, and that loyalty would mean “nothing” to him in the game.

While you may think there would be some level of ‘expectations versus reality’ at play once he got into the game, the truth is not much about Angus’ strategy changed with the revelation that he would be playing as a Traitor.

“It really didn’t change my approach to the show, other than having to tell stories about wanting to hunt down the Traitors,” he said.

“It does make building relationships difficult, though,” he conceded. “I’m not naturally a deceitful person; I would never go behind someone’s back or cross them or anything like that. So having to get in there and do that, under the pressure of lying through your teeth, yeah, it’s very difficult!”

As for who he hopes will take out the win in the end, Angus is hoping for Faithful Lewis, saying “he’s a really funny guy”.

Still, he’s expecting the remaining Traitors, especially Nigel and Marielle, to give him a run for his money, and expects to see Craig “right down there in the end”, as well.

“Nigel and Marielle have very strong relationships, Claire not so much, so if I was a gambling man, I would have to say that she’s in a lot of trouble,” he said.

Will Lewis be able to take down the Traitors and walk away with the $250,000 prize? Only time will tell. Until then…

The Traitors airs at 7.30pm on Sunday — Tuesdays, only on 10 and 10 Play on Demand.
