Matthew Vaughn’s British Intelligence agency is coming back to our screens — but not as we know it.
The King’s Man — a prequel to the Kingsman films starring Taron Egerton (Rocketman) and Colin Firth (The Secret Garden), will tell the intelligence agency’s origin story.
Vaughn has once again both written and directed the film, which pre-dates both Kingsman: The Secret Service and Kingsman: The Golden Circle — and if their global box office success is anything to go by, this next instalment will be a sure-fire hit.
Here’s everything we already know about The King’s Man.
The Plot
“We are the first independent intelligence agency. Refined but brutal. Civilised but merciless ”
The story centres around an experienced agent (Ralph Fiennes) and his new recruit and son (Harris Dickinson) who attempt to stop history’s worst tyrants bringing an end to humanity.
The film will explore the origins of the espionage agency against the backdrop of World War I and in an interview with Empire, Vaughn teased that the film will sow the “seeds” for a third Kingsman sequel.
“We’ve put seeds for what’s going to happen in Kingsman 3 all the way back into this,” he told the outlet. “And it’s going to be very different.”
When will it be released?
The King’s Man was scheduled for release on September 18, however, due to COVID-19 it looks like it will now be released in cinemas on February 25, 2021.
Who is in the cast?
Fiennes (No Time to Die) and Dickinson (Maleficent: Mistress of Evil) are set to star as the Duke of Oxford and his son Conrad.
