“Twelve strangers wake up in a clearing. They don’t know where they are, or how they got there. They don’t know they’ve been chosen…for a very specific purpose…The Hunt.”
Universal has released a trailer for the suspense thriller, The Hunt — a film set in modern America, that feels a bit too close to reality for comfort.
And because of the controversial storyline, where “elites” go hunting other humans for sport, the film almost didn’t see the light of day.
The new trailer is eery, played to the haunting tune of Game of Survival by Ruelle, and is the latest offering from filmmaker Craig Zobel (Z for Zachariah) and renowned thrill-makers, Blumhouse Productions.
Starring Betty Gilpin from Netflix’ GLOW, the story centres around Crystal (Gilpin) — who seems to know the game better than those who are hunting her.
Academy Award winner Hilary Swank (Million Dollar Baby) plays a mysterious woman at the centre of everything — and becomes the main target for Crystal.
The ensemble cast also features Emma Roberts (American Horror Story), Ike Barinholtz (The Mindy Project), Justin Hartley (This Is Us), Glenn Howerton (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Amy Madigan (American Woman), Macon Blair (Swamp Things), Steve Coulter (Watchmen) and Ethan Suplee (The Ranch).
From Jason Blum, the producer of Get Out, and Damon Lindelof, creator of the HBO series Watchmen and co-creator of the TV series Lost, comes a timely and provocative new satirical thriller that has already ignited a national conversation.
Now, it’s time to decide for yourself.
The Hunt is coming to cinemas in April.
