The Emmys 2020: Zendaya Makes History As Youngest Ever Winner of Best Actress

Zendaya

24-year-old Zendaya is a triple-threat. She’s an actor, dancer and singer and now the youngest woman to ever win the Emmy Award for Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

At the 72nd Annual Awards, Zendaya walked away with the coveted trophy and her first-ever nomination.

The star beat out other actors including Sandrah Oh (Killing Eve), Laura Linney (Ozark), Jennifer Aniston (The Morning Show), Academy Award winner Olivia Colman (The Crown) and Jodie Comer (Killing Eve).

“She’s younger than Baby Yoda and she already has an Emmy!” Kimmel said after acceptance speech.

Made more exciting, Zendaya’s family and friends could not contain their excitement as her name was announced. It was a very special moment.

Following her win, 26-year-old Julia Garner took a golden statue home for her role in Ozark.

Taking home the Best Supporting Actress gong, Garner beat out Helena Bonham Carter (The Crown), Thandie Newton (Westworld), Meryl Streep (Big Little Lies) and Samira Wiley (The Handmaid’s Tale), proving this new generation is one to watch.
