Get Your 1950s on With This New Season of ‘The Block’ — All the Details We Know

Over the past few years, The Block’s been a Ferris wheel powered by rocket fuel. In 2021, The Block produced the spiciest series of TV, full of betrayals, home reno drama, and hype. However, in 2022, The Block had a heartbreaking finale, with only one team selling their house for an impressive amount of dollarydoos.

Which brings us to The Block’s 2023 season. Will it be an unhinged and excellent time? Or will it crash and burn upon landing?

Well, this season, The Block is scaling things back. Instead of renovating 10 acre properties in regional Victoria, the contestants are renovating Melbourne homes that were built in the 1950s.

They are also going all in on a retro theme for the season. In The Block’s trailer, both the hosts and the contestants are wearing 1950s garb. Let’s just hope that they leave the old-school racism at home.

Here are the other details we know about The Block’s 2023 season.

The Block’s 2023 Host

As expected, Scotty Cam is back to host the 2023 of The Block. Scotty began hosting The Block back in 2010, and he hasn’t taken a break since. In fact, he even won a Gold Logie for his work on the show in 2014.

When discussing this season in a press release, Scotty said, “This series is guaranteed to be a dead-set blockbuster.”

“Our five new teams from across the country are all fired up to make their home states proud. The Block 2023 offers more twists, turns, and curve-balls than ever before.”

The Block’s 2023 Co-Host

Shelley has been co-hosting The Block since 2011, but she’s been a mainstay in Australian media for years.

She began her career back in 1996 on Saturday Disney, and over the years, she’s hosted sporting events, red carpets, and more. She also hosted Australia’s Funniest Home Videos from 2008 to 2014.

The Block’s 2023 Judges

The trio is back. Neale Whitaker, Shaynna Blaze, and Darren Palmer are all here to share their real estate and design expertise.

However, Neale won’t be in every room review for this season of The Block. This is because his partner is sick.

“For the 2023 season, I’ve put family first and cut back on my judging weeks,” Neale said in a statement.

“My partner of 20 years, David, experienced some serious health issues earlier this year, and my priority has been to spend more time at home.”

What’s more, Neale, Shaynna, and Darren are being joined by someone new. Marty Fox will also be judging the room on this season of The Block. This man is the CEO of WHITEFOX Real Estate.

The Block’s 2023 Contestants

This season of The Block consists of five teams. Additionally, only two of them are blonde women. This is the definition of progress.

All of The Block’s 2023 contestants are as follows:

  • Kyle and Leslie
  • Gian and Steph
  • Liberty and Eliza
  • Leah and Ash
  • Kristy and Brett
