There’s undoubtedly a lot of hype surrounding silk pillowcases and what they can do for your skin and hair. But, these pillowcases do actually live up to the hype. According to Healthline, sleeping on silk create less friction on your face and hair and is particularly good for those who suffer from acne.
“Silk pillowcases absorb less of the moisture and dirt and thus may be a better choice for people with acne,” Yoram Harth, a board-certified dermatologist, and the medical director of MDacne, told Healthline. “This is especially true for people who sleep on their sides or stomach.”
As silk is softer on the skin compared to cotton, it will also create less friction on acne-inflamed skin. The fabric isn’t absorbent, so it won’t drink up the freshly applied skincare from your face either.
