Some very personal and important conversations go down in the barbershop. For those men who struggle to talk about their mental health, the barbershop might feel like a comfortable place to do so.
To ensure barbers are equipped to have such conversations, The Barbiere Company — an importer and distributor of professional barber brands, tools and grooming products — has teamed up with Movember.
This relationship has seen the creation of ‘Real Barbers, Real Talk’ — a campaign dedicated to tackling men’s mental health issues in the barbershop. Developed by mental health experts at Movember, Movember Conversations is an online tool for those who want to feel more confident and informed when navigating an important conversation with a friend who might be struggling.
Barbers across Australia have had access to barber-specific training from the team at Movember Conversations in order to sharpen their mental health awareness tools and responses when engaging with their clients in the chair.
“We’re delighted to work with Movember on this exciting supportive online tool. At The Barbiere Company, we are committed to partnering with barbers to help support and foster their community’s well being through the culture and craft of barbering,” Paul Mansour, national keys accounts manager at The Barbiere Company said.
If you’re a barber and would like to get involved, head online to The Barbiere Company for more information.
Otherwise, for the rest of you, you can also engage with the work being done by Movember and The Barbiere Company by growing a mo, participating in fundraising and donating to the cause.
