The New Trailer for ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 Takes Us to the Creepy Creel House

stranger things season 4

If it feels like you’ve been waiting an eternity for the fourth season of Netflix’s Stranger Things then you’re probably counting down the days until it finally drops sometime in 2022.

The next season of the supernatural hit series from the Duffer brothers was delayed thanks to the pandemic but promises to be the most ambitious outing for the show yet.

In previous teasers we’ve been led to question the safety of Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) after footage showed what appears to be a children’s facility — and a very depressing one at that — with a group of kids playing in a room, all sporting shaved heads and hospital gowns like Eleven when we met her in season one.

Creepily, the children greet Dr Brenner (who we only see from behind) otherwise known as “Papa” before he tells the group, “Today, I have something very special planned for you.”

It throws into question the character’s return after Dr Brenner was supposedly killed in season one, though his body was never seen. His fate was further questioned in season two.

The trailer then concluded with the camera pushing into a door marked “11” as a voiceover says, “Eleven, are you listening?”.

In the latest trailer released by the streamer, we are introduced to the Creel family as the refrains of Doris Day’s 1931 song ‘Dream a Little Dream of Me.’ The family appears to be picture-perfect and all-American, content in their new palatial home until we see the little girl cautiously approaching a dead rabbit in the front yard.

Cue some eerie flickering lights, some worried glances and a flash frame of the two Creel children laying dead (or maybe unconscious) at their father’s feet and we know that present-day Creel Manor has a very dark history — which is probably why the Hawkins gang heads there for an investigation of their own.

Could the Creel House hold the secret to the supernatural force that has terrorised Hawkins since the series inception? We can’t say for sure but we could not be more eager to find out.

It’s been three years since season three of Stranger Things graced our screens, but executive producer Shawn Levy promises it will be worth the wait.

“I’ll just say that we are long-delayed, and the Duffers and I want to share season four with the world as badly as the world wants it,” Levy told The Hollywood Reporter.
“Part of what’s taking time is long before COVID and the pandemic existed, season four was built to be by far the most ambitious, cinematic, sprawling and epic season that we’ve ever done. By not just a little — by a lot. So the complexity of season four, even before we had the obstacles, hurdles and challenges of a pandemic, is taking a lot of time because it is super worth the wait.”

And, of course, we know that Hopper (David Harbour) is (thankfully) alive after that intense season three finale, albeit seemingly as a prisoner in the icy depths of Russia.

Speaking to Collider, Harbour said of the upcoming season, “I mean, it’s bigger, that’s the first thing. In scope, in scale, even in the idea that we’re not in Hawkins anymore. We, locale-wise, we’re bigger. We’re introducing new stuff, but we’re also tightening and wrapping up in a certain direction to make it have a clear, clean specific, and definite ending at some point, which I can’t really talk about.”

Whenever Stranger Things is finally able to debut its fourth season, we can expect to see some new faces in the mix. In November 2020, eight new cast members were announced including series regulars Jamie Campbell Bower, Eduardo Franco and Joseph Quinn.

Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matazarro, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Joe Keery, Natalie Dyer, Maya Hawke, Charlie Heaton, and Winona Ryder will all return to the series.
