Star Trek fans report for duty.
An animated comedy based on the original series is coming and the first trailer has been released.
Ahead of its US premiere, the Star Trek: Lower Decks trailer has arrived and with it, a look at the goofy underlings of the U.S.S. Cerritos.
The series focuses on the support crew who serve one of the Starfleet’s least important ships and follows characters Mariner, Boimler, Rutherford and Tendi who try to keep up with their duties and their social lives all while the ship is being rocked by a multitude of sci-fi anomalies.
Star Trek: Lower Decks stars Tawny Newsome (Space Force) as Ensign Beckett Mariner, Jack Quaid (The Boys) as Ensign Brad Boimler, Noël Wells (Craig of the Creek) as Ensign Tendi and Eugene Cordero (Central Park) as Ensign Rutherford.
The team are supported by a host of characters including Dawnn Lewis (The Simpsons) as Captain Carol Freeman, Jerry O’Connell (F–k It) as Commander Jack Ransom, Fred Tatasciore (Gods and Heroes) as Lieutenant Shaxs and Gillian Vigman (Step Brothers) as Doctor T’Ana.
Lower Decks takes place in 2380, just a year after Star Trek: Nemesis and is recognisable in the trekky-verse.
The 10 episode season, which has already been renewed for a second, will premiere on August 6 with weekly episodes.
No further information about international debuts or broadcasting partners has currently been announced.
