Dermatology platform, Software, is about to revolutionise how anti-ageing and acne are treated, especially for those living in regional and rural areas.
Software creates made-to-order skincare products that are customised to your skin type following an online consultation with a doctor. The products are then delivered to your door, so you don’t have to step foot into a dermatology clinic.
As Software is a subscription service, you can expect a new shipment of products every two months.
The process starts by filling out a questionnaire about your skin and providing photos of your skin concerns to Software. These concerns could include acne, wrinkles, clogged pores, texture or firmness, for example.
A doctor will then prescribe you a treatment of prescription-grade products to use and will be available to answer any follow-up questions you have.
Finally, Software’s partner pharmacy will then compound the treatment in a personalised bottle and box for you and it is then shipped to your home. So simple!
Software was created by Niamh Mooney, who grew up in country Victoria and suffered from skin issues as a teenager.
“Software was born out of my own frustrations with our healthcare system,” Mooney said. “We had to drive three hours to see a dermatologist and many GPs didn’t have the training needed to deal with chronic skin conditions. I want to improve access to quality care for all Australians, irrespective of where you live.”
The platform is backed by a team of experts, including a dermatologist, pharmacist and GP. The personalised products contain prescription-strength ingredients that are dermatologist approved and proved by medical evidence.
There is a lot of conflicting advice when it comes to treating both acne and anti-ageing and the team at Software hope to provide accurate and easy-to-understand information to make treating these skin issues a little easier.
“We have created guides on key skin topics. We’ve reviewed the clinical studies and summarised them in the guides so they can be easily understood by everyone,” Mooney said.
The fee for the initial consultation (and any follow-up questions) is $29. The treatment itself is $88 and lasts for roughly two months — at $44 a month, it’s pretty affordable. Patients will receive fresh products every two months. For more information, head to the Software website.
