If there’s an app that has defined quarantine, it’s most definitely TikTok. Between the dancing videos and clips of cute doggos, it’s been a welcome refuge.
The app has also seen a boom in beauty videos, with tutorials and reviews becoming as commonplace on TikTok as they are on YouTube. This means that certain beauty products are becoming “TikTok famous” seemingly overnight.
One such product is the Revlon Face Volcanic Roller — a product that absorbs oil from your face like a piece of blotting paper would.
“It gets rid of all the shine and it like doesn’t mess with your makeup at all,” she said. “What the heck? This thing is crazy. Obsessed.”
This video has been viewed 6.8 million times and has 1.4 million likes — so it’s no wonder the product has gone viral. According to news.com.au, it was a real review and not simply paid content by Revlon.
Since the release of the TikTok video, the product has sold out across much of the United States. The drugstore beauty product has now made its way to Australia and is stocked at Big W and Chemist Warehouse. The roller is made with real volcanic stone, which is effective at eliminating oil and shine, says Revlon.
You can use it on clean skin as well as on a full face of makeup and unlike oil blotting papers that are single-use, this roller can be used over and over again as its washable.
To use, remove the cap and gently roll the stone over your face — basically wherever you’re prone to shine like the T-zone. That’s it!
To clean the product, Revlon’s instructions are to “twist the locking ring around the stone clockwise to unlock, then remove the volcanic stone. Wash with warm water and your favourite gentle cleanser. Rinse and allow it to air-dry overnight before you lock it back in again.”
