As another weekend disappears with the wind, a new week slides straight into our DMs. Will it bring ill tidings from your ex-boyfriend wanting your Disney+ password? Or, is your long-lost opulent grandmother going to message you out of the blue?
Whelp, one thing is for certain, there are going to be some mammoth headlines worth knowing about. And here are the biggest ones from today:
Queensland Is Making a $776 Million Wind Farm
According to The Courier Mail, the Queensland Government is making a wind farm that could power over 230,000 homes. This project will consist of 150 turbines, create 200 construction jobs, and need 15 people to support the project once it’s completed.
The ABC has reported this energy saver, called the Tarong West Wind Farm, will cost $776 million. It’s expected to be up and running by 2026.
“It’s investments like this that will ensure we deliver on our net-zero ambitions and our promise to Queenslanders to become a global renewable energy superpower,” stated Queensland’s Premier, Annastacia Palaszczuk.
She also noted, “We are now focused on what the next decade will look like, and I’ll have a lot more to say on this in this week’s CEDA State of the State address.”
The Greens Push to Get Cannabis Recreationally Legalised
As per Nine News, the Greens have obtained some game-changing legal advice. This advice outlined that they could use the federal parliamentary system to legalise recreational cannabis without input from the states. Such a move would be huge, as some states and territories don’t want cannabis to be legalised in this manner.
The Greens are now pushing to get recreational cannabis legalised by creating some new legislation. If passed, a joint could be completely legal by the end of next year.
“40% of Australians have used cannabis, but it’s our most vulnerable who are dragged through the criminal justice system,” wrote Greens senator, David Shoebridge, on Twitter. “In fact, the 2019 National Drug Strategy Household Survey found that 60% of Sydneysiders want cannabis legalised.”
He additionally asserted, “If you are an adult and want to chill out with cannabis, you should be able to without the threat of police, violence or imprisonment- without worrying whether you could be sent to prison for smoking a joint with friends.”
However, whether Labor or the Teals would support the Green’s proposed legislation remains a mystery. We’ll keep you in the loop if this situation changes.

Attendance Has Improved By Over 10% at an NT School,
At Moulden Park Primary School, attendance at the beginning of term three was 63.3%. However, just eight weeks later, that number has jumped up to 76.8%. The ABC has remarked that this increase in attendance is thanks to a new bus program.
The Northern Territory school is now sending out a bus to patrol the suburbs. This bus is full of food, has school supplies, saves kids from doing a hot two km walk, and acts as a community alarm bell.
Sylvia Gregory, the school’s assistant principal, has said, “Every day counts. We need to make sure that all our students are coming to school.”
She then went on to say, “And if there are any barriers, we’ll make sure that we can help support families because it is important that they’re here.”
