Crazy Train! The Osbournes Could Be Getting a Reboot 20 Years Later

The Osbournes

All aboard the crazy train… after two decades.

The original reality TV royal family, The Osbournes could be set to return to the small screen to reboot the hit series, The Osbournes.

In an interview with Variety and iHeart podcast “The Big Ticket”, Jack Osbourne said he’d “be lying” if conversations surrounding a reboot hadn’t been coming up recently.

“I think nostalgia is such a huge, hot-button word right now,” he said. “You look at all these shows coming back from 20 years ago. The only thing, and what I struggle with, is we don’t all live together. One thought I’ve had is, why don’t we all just move in together for two months? It’s 20 years later; we’re all moving back into the house together.”

While the idea is great in theory, there is just one catch. Osbourne would be looking to get paid “a hell of a lot”.

“The amount of therapy I’m going to have to buy into after that is going to be monstrous,” he said.

The 34-year-old has been busy over the last few years, working on a documentary about his father Ozzy, the lead singer from Black Sabbath.

The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne was meant to premiere at SXSW (an annual event which was a showcase of parallel film, interactive media, and music festivals) last month, however, due to the global coronavirus pandemic, was cancelled.

“We had a children’s choir that was going to sing ‘Crazy Train,’” he said during the podcast. “I’m so heartbroken that we couldn’t do it.”

The film will now debut in the US on A&E around June this year and will dive into Ozzy’s battle with addiction, run-ins with the law and marital life with his wife Sharon.

Most recently, the patriarch was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease which all took place while they were filming.

“I had to kind of persuade both my dad and mum,” Jack said after his parents were hesitant to include it.

“I was like, ‘We would be doing this film an injustice to not do this. This is a monumental moment in your life and in your career. … To ignore that, then we should not even be doing this doc because we’d be lying to your fans.”

The documentary touches on the diagnosis with interviews from the family, something which made Jack very emotional.

“When we did that interview, we didn’t know if my dad was ever going to be able to perform again. With that comes a lot of fear because it’s like a racehorse when they can’t race anymore: They give up. That’s the fear I had,” he said.

The Osbournes was an American reality television program featuring the domestic life of heavy metal singer Ozzy Osbourne and his family Sharon, Jack and Kelly.

The series premiered on MTV in March 2002, and, in its first season, was cited as the most-viewed series ever on MTV.
