No Time to Die is set to delight fans and follows directly from the end of Spectre, after Bond, the MI5 spy, decided to leave the spy game to live it up in Jamaica.
As the official synopsis reads:
“His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help.
“The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.”
Fans are also excited to see Oscar-winner Rami Malek as villain, Safin.
In an interview with The Mirror, Malek admitted he had to think twice before accepting the role.
“It’s a great character and I’m very excited,” he told the outlet, however, explained that he wanted assurance from director Cary Fukunga that the villain would not be a “religious fundamentalist”.
“I said, ‘We cannot identify him with any act of terrorism reflecting an ideology or a religion. That’s not something I would entertain, so if that is why I am your choice then you can count me out’.
“But that was clearly not his vision. So he’s a very different kind of terrorist.”
Alongside Craig and Malek and returning to the 007 franchise is Ralph Fiennes (M), Naomie Harris (Moneypenny), Ben Whishaw (Q), Lea Seydoux (Madeleine Swann), and Jeffrey Wright (Felix Leiter).
No Time to Die was one of the first films affected by the coronavirus pandemic and in December December, it was announced that it would be pushed to December this year — with no further plans to change the date.
