Netflix Has High Hopes For Chris Hemsworth’s Film ‘Extraction’

Netflix

Tyler Rake is about to become synonymous with Jason Bourne and John Wick — well that’s what the creators of the Netflix original Extraction are hoping for.

According to Forbes, the streaming giant believes that the Chris Hemsworth led film will draw in a huge 90 million viewers in its first four weeks, making it the most-watched Netflix original film in the world — and that’s with only ten days of data so far.

Of course, Netflix isn’t the only ones thrilled with these early results.

Hemsworth himself took to Instagram over the weekend, thanking fans in a video for the success of the flick.

“I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who checked out Extraction,” he said. “You’ve made it the number one film on the planet right now, and it looks like it’s going to be Netflix’s biggest feature film of all time, which is absolutely mind-blowing.”

He then went on to suggest that a sequel could be in the works — and with these early numbers, we can only imagine that the streaming service is looking to capitalise on its success.

“There’s been a lot of talk and questions about sequels and prequels and all sorts of things, and all I can say is who knows,” Hemsworth added.

“But with this amount of support, it’s something I will be pretty stoked to jump back into.”

The Australian actor stars as Tyler Rake, a black-market mercenary who is hired to rescue the kidnapped son of an imprisoned international crime lord.

But, enveloped in the murky underworld of weapons dealers and drug traffickers, the already deadly mission approaches the impossible, forever altering the lives of both Rake and the boy he is rescuing.

Filmed in India and Thailand, this action-packed thriller also stars Stranger Things star David Harbour, Rudhraksh Jaiswal (Mahabharat), Randeep Hooda (Love Aaj Kal), Golshifteh Farahani (Blind Spot), Pankaj Tripathi (Abhi toh party shuru hui hai) and Priyanshu Painyuli (Rashmi Rocket).

“Netflix biggest feature film of all time and number one on the planet.”
