From Curries to Crying — The Most Memorable Moments From ‘My Kitchen Rules’

My Kitchen Rules is chockablock full of memorable moments. Remember when Pete Evans hosted this series? That guy that posted bonafide Nazi symbols on Instagram? Wild.

Fortunately though, not all of My Kitchen Rules feature this irrelevant troglodyte. This series has also featured some wholesome, funny, buckwild moments. So let’s dive into some of them now.

Dan and Steph’s Win — 2013

In 2013, Dan and Steph were gunning to win My Kitchen Rules. Why? Because they wanted to use the $250,000 worth of prize money on IVF treatment and starting a family.

This brings us to the finale of this season. Dan and Steph were up against Jake and Elle. They cooked up servings of flathead sausage with confit potatoes, lamb roulade with smoked carrots, and a chocolate peppermint delice. All of these feeds were astounding, and they won.

Reflecting on this experience, the host, Manu Feildel, loved what Dan and Steph brought to the competition.

“I just loved the determination they had,” said Manu. “And they wanted to get all the way to the end, and they kept on fighting, and fighting, and what made them fight is what they wanted from it. They wanted the cash for something important.”

After winning this episode, Steph underwent IVF treatment. She then fell pregnant and had a baby named Emmy.

The Curry Paste Scandal — 2017

Another buckwild and memorable My Kitchen Rules moment comes from the 2017 season of this series. This moment is known as “The Curry Paste Scandal.”

In 2017, two contestants, Alyse and Matt, were whipping up a homemade curry to serve to the judges. However, during this episode, the judges learned that the dish wasn’t authentic — they had used a jar of curry paste. AYAM’s Thai red curry paste, to be exact.

After Alyse and Matt served the dish, they were roasted to a crisp. All of the judges hated that this shortcut was used.

As Colin Fassnidge said, “If you’re not going to cook, we’re going to nail you.”

Radha and Prabha’s Lamb Rogan Josh — 2023

In 2023, Radha and Prabha served some extra spicy servings of lamb Rogan Josh at their instant restaurant. They dedicated it to their late father, as this dish was his favourite meal.

When this meal was served, everybody loved it. Manu even called the best Rogan Josh that he’s ever eaten in Australia.

What’s more, this dish brought Colin to literal tears.

Colin asked after eating his serving, “How am I gonna do a critique now?”

What a wholesome start to this series.
