A ‘Monsters Inc’ Spin-Off Series That Features Old Favourites and Some New Friends Is Coming

Monsters at Work

Mike Wazowski and James P. “Sulley” Sullivan are set to hit the small screen, with a Monsters, Inc spinoff coming to Disney+.

The original Pixar film debuted 20 years ago and was an instant box office hit with both kids and adults — in fact, it earned $577 million worldwide and became the third highest-grossing film of 2001. Billy Crystal and John Goodman featured in the starring voice roles as Mike and Sulley respectively, with Steve Buscemi, James Coburn and Jennifer Tilly also lending their talents to the cast.

A prequel titled Monsters University was released on June 21, 2013 — grossing $743 million worldwide.

Now, a whole new generation of fans can fall in love with the gang with the premiere of Monsters at Work on Disney+ on Wednesday, July 7, 2021. The new series will pick up where the 2001 movie left off and will feature characters from the original film along with a host of new monsters to make you laugh.

Crystal and Goodman will return for the series, as will John Ratzenberger as Yeti, Jennifer Tilly as Celia Mae, and Bob Peterson as Roze. Newcomers to the Monsters universe include Henry Winkler as Fritz, Tylor’s boss, Lucas Neff as Duncan, Mindy Kaling as Val Little, and Alanna Ubach as Cutter.

According to a press release from Disney+, Monsters At Work is set the day after the events of Monsters, Inc., and follows the workers involved in harvesting laughter to power Monstropolis. Tylor Tuskmon (Ben Feldman) recently graduated from Monsters University, and his plans to become the best Scarer at Monsters Incorporated, are dashed when he realises that laughter is the name of the game rather than screams.
