Crocodile Fighter Stephen Takes on the “MasterChef Australia” Gauntlet

In 2024, Stephen is on MasterChef Australia

MasterChef Australia knows how to cast a cooking show. From its very first season, we were graced with some extraordinary talent, including the wholesome Julie Goodwin and the fierce Poh Ling Yeow. The proceeding years made chefs like Adam Liaw, Hayden Quinn, and Andy Allen famous. In 2024, we can’t wait to learn what MasterChef Australia does for the contestant Stephen.

But just because Stephen has a chance to become a household name, winning this series will be tough. MasterChef Australia’s latest season will star 22 budding chefs. Week after week, they’ll be put to the test in a series of challenges that will limit which ingredients they use and how much time they have in the kitchen. The winner of this series receives $250,000 worth of prize money.

While it’s still early days, we do know some details about what Stephen will bring to the kitchen. Let’s jump straight into the facts.

Who Is MasterChef Australia’s Stephen?

MasterChef Australia’s Stephen isn’t your ordinary chef. Instead of chilling at home, he spends a lot of time bush crafting in the Australian wilderness. He even wears the tooth of a crocodile that attacked him as a necklace.

“A crocodile went to grab me, and it grabbed the tree instead,” Stephen said. “The tooth broke off, instead of my leg.”

When Stephen isn’t in the bush, he likes to put it all on the line in the kitchen. In an early episode of MasterChef Australia 2024, Stephen serves Quail Provence to the French judge Jean-Christophe Novelli. Quail is a classic French dish that’s difficult to cook and even tricker to master.

When discussing this move, Stephen appeared confident in his decision.

“What’s more terrifying? Seeing crocodiles or being around crocodiles?” Stephen asks. “Well, they’re just crocodiles.”

MasterChef Australia 2024 will premiere at 7.30pm on Monday, April 22, only on 10 and 10 Play on Demand. Miss this episode? Catch up on 10 Play.
