MasterChef Australia: Fans Vs Favourites is just around the corner, with our Fans and Favourites ready to go head-to-head in an epic battle for the win.
One of the returning favourites this year is perhaps one of the series’ most iconic chefs —and the winner of season one — Julie Goodwin.
More than four million people watched as Goodwin was crowned the very first winner of MasterChef Australia, beating out Poh Ling Yeow in the finale.
She was contestant 4091 and won the hearts of Australians over the course of the season with her funny, charming and down-to-earth nature.

Since winning the show, things have been non-stop for Goodwin.
In 2010, Sydneysider Goodwin hosted a weekly cooking segment on Today, and her first cookbook, Our Family Table, was a smash hit that held the number one spot for over 10 weeks.
A former youth worker, winning MasterChef Australia saw Goodwin become one of Australia’s most beloved celeb chefs.
Over the years, she’s released many cookbooks, and opened her own cooking school on the Central Coast of NSW, called Julie’s Place.
She even put out a Christmas album in 2010!
Goodwin married her husband Michael Goodwin in 1995, and the couple have three sons, Joe, Tom and Paddy, together. She’s also a proud grandmother to Tom’s daughter Delilah, who was born January 2021.
She’s cemented herself as an icon, but Goodwin be able to take the heat in the MasterChef Australia kitchen? Only time will tell.
“I’m quite petrified about it,” she told Yahoo recently. “I watch [MasterChef] every year and I’ve just watched the standard rise and rise and the food get more and more amazing.”
MasterChef Australia premieres at 7.30pm on April 18, 2022, only on 10 and 10 Play on Demand.
