On Easter Monday, MasterChef Australia: Fans and Favourites premiered with an epic two-hour episode that saw not one, not two, but three contestants awarded with coveted Immunity Pins.

Returning contestants, Favourites Tommy Pham and Christina Batista both nabbed pins, but for the Fans, it was Harry Tomlinson’s time to shine.

She plated up a top tier dish of burnt cabbage that wowed judges Andy Allen, Melissa Leong and Jock Zonfrillo, and was awarded an Immunity Pin for her efforts.

Tomlinson’s love of food runs deep. The youngest of three children, with two older brothers, Tomlinson was drawn to the kitchen at an early age, and by the time she was a teenager, had taken over cooking dinners for the whole family.

Outside of the home, Tomlinson centred her world around the food and hospitality industry, as well, and currently works with specialty coffee at Proud Mary Coffee.

In a Q&A interview with The Latch, Tomlinson described her nature as “happy”, “open” and “determined”. She said that she “likes to make people laugh” and “makes friends with everyone”, and said that she’s “a total dag”.

Of the three judges, Tomlinson looks up to Leong the most, describing her as “an absolute star”.

I would love to be a food writer one day and hearing the way Mel talks about food really gets all of my creative juices flowing,” she explained.

When she’s not in the kitchen, Tomlinson said that she enjoys “painting, overnight hikes and dinner parties with all my friends“.

After years of honing her skills in the kitchen, Tomlinson is now ready to take on both the Fans and the Favourites, and with her determined nature, there’s not much that will stop her from achieving her goals.

Describing herself as an intuitive cook, Tomlinson will be one to watch when it comes time for mystery box challenges because she’s not one to shy away from polarising ingredients. In fact, one of her very favourite ingredients to cook with is offal.

When it comes to her signature dish, though, Tomlinson is all about a veal cotoletta with herb oil, burnt cabbage with tarragon cream and parmigiano, and pickled fennel. Yum!

Whether Tomlinson will be able to make it all the way to the end remains to be seen, but with an Immunity Pin on her apron, she’s off to a great start.

MasterChef Australia premieres at 7.30pm on April 18, 2022, only on 10 and 10 Play on Demand.
