The day was New Years Eve, but for one hacker, and for everyone who happened to be online at the time, it will always be known as “the day Mariah Carey’s Twitter got hacked”.
The singer recently became the first artist in history to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart in four separate decades when her 1994 Christmas anthem “All I Want For Christmas Is You” went number one 25 years after its initial release, but her year ended on a low when a hacker gained access to her account.
After tweeting a bunch of racial slurs from Mariah’s account (side note: why are all the celebrity hackers obsessed with tweeting racial slurs when they could be leaking their DMs and giving us the tea?) the hacker moved their attention to rapper Eminem, with whom Mariah has been feuding with for years.
Among the tweets — all of which have been deleted now — about Eminem were “Eminem has a little penis” and “Eminem can still hold this p***y”.

The Mariah and Eminem feud goes all the way back to 2001, when the pair allegedly dated. Eminem says they dated for around six months, Mariah says it never happened. Eminem name-dropped her in his 2002 single “Superman”, and Mariah released “Obsessed” about the rapper in 2009. Although Mariah hasn’t discussed the rapper publicly since then, Eminem did take a few shots at Nick Cannon — Mariah’s ex-husband — in a song released just a few weeks ago.
“All I Want For Christmas Is You” is Mariah’s 19th Billboard chart number one, though, so let’s leave racist, useless hacking in 2019 and all move on, okay?
