It’s almost the silly season when many workers wrap up for the year and social calendars fill up. As fun as the season is, it can sometimes bring additional costs. All the drinks, food and activities you’re doing when socialising can add up and, before you know it, you’ve spent far more than you afford.
Fortunately, you can ease some of your financial pressure by being smart about where you go. Many Melbourne venues offer great-value deals for food and drink this time of year, particularly around lunchtime. Here are three of our favourite venues in the city with deals you can take advantage of over lunchtime this silly season.
Yakimono
Japanese restaurant Yakimono is already a great choice for catchups with its high-energy and neon lights. But from Monday, November 11, when its Sip and Setto special starts every day of the week, it’s even more appealing for a lunchtime meal. For $88 per person from 12pm to 4pm daily, you and your crew can tuck into menu favourites and sip 90 minutes of bottomless craft beer, wine and cocktails. Drink highlights include Kiko Highball, Bizzarro Strawberry and Yuzu Spritz.
Baby
In the mood for pizza? Baby’s bargain-price Free-Flowing Festa set menu, normally available only on the weekends, will be on every day of the week from Monday, November 11. For $66 per person from 12pm to 3pm, you’ll start with antipasti like focaccia with whipped ricotta and cherry tomatoes and cacio e pepe arancini before being served pizza favourites. The deal also includes 90 minutes of wine, beer, prosecco and two kinds of cocktails: Aperol Spritz and rhubarb-infused Festa Spritz.
Hawker Hall
From Monday, November 11, Boozy Yum Cha at Hawker Hall, which can normally only be booked on the weekends, will be available on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays too. For $66 per person from 12pm ‘til 3:30pm you can feast on chicken and mushroom san choy bao, roast duck and smoked eggplant wontons and claypot rice with chicken. You’ll also get 90 minutes of cocktails, wines and local brews. Not boozing? They’ve got you with mocktails and soft drinks too.
