Lil Nas X had arguably the most catchy tune of 2019 with Old Town Road. The rapper had such huge success that he won two Grammys, including for best pop duo/group performance with Billy Ray Cyrus.
Now, he’s putting his writing skills to use in a different kind of way, with a children’s book called C is for Country.
In a Tweet on his official account, Lil Nas said that he was dropping “the best kids book of all time soon!” which was a little wink, wink, nudge, nudge at Kanye West’s 2009 VMAs stage crash.
The book will be released on January 5, 2021, and you can already pre-order it for your little country star — or yourself — now.
According to Random House Kids, the book follows Lil Nas X and Panini the pony (a nod to one of his songs) and is targeted at kids aged three to five.
Using the alphabet, the story will go through various country-themed objects with “surprises” throughout.
“A is for adventure. Every day is a brand-new start!, B is for boots—whether they’re big or small, short or tall. And C is for country,” an excerpt reads.

“Experience wide-open pastures, farm animals, guitar music, cowboy hats, and all things country in this debut picture book that’s perfect for music lovers learning their ABCs and for anyone who loves Nas’s signature genre-blending style.”
Lil Nas X won two Grammys for his hit song, Old Town Road (Remix) including the aforementioned Best Duo and best music video in 2019.
The song was released in April last year and was labelled as “country rap”. The song gained popularity on Tik Tok before hitting the US Billboard charts.
It simultaneously charted on the Billboard Hot 100, Hot Country Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, however, was removed from the Country Songs chart because it did not embrace “enough elements of today’s country music”.
