When Jurassic Park hit theatres all the way back in 1993, it was a massive success. In fact, it went on to become the highest grossing film of all-time, a title it would hold until Titanic came along in 1997.
Following two successful sequels, it seemed Jurassic Park was done and dusted, until 2015, when Jurassic World saw the franchise resurrected with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard in the lead roles. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom followed in 2018, and now, Jurassic World Dominion is here, and is set to close out this latest trilogy.
Notably, Jurassic World Dominion marks the return of a number of original cast members, including Laura Dern as Dr Ellie Sattler, Sam Neill as Dr Alan Grant, and Jeff Goldblum as Dr Ian Malcolm, reuniting the trio onscreen for the first time since 1993.
“There was real value in letting everyone know that the characters they loved when they were children are going to be okay,” director Colin Trevorrow told The Washington Post. “When we care about these icons and we aren’t sure where or how they exist in the world that we’re presenting now, what their opinion [or] perspective on it is … we bring them [back] to assure people that they’ve found a place of safety and contentment in their lives. That’s how we end most stories, and so I wanted to treat this as one long story from the very beginning.”
Who Directed Jurassic World Dominion?
Colin Trevorrow resurrected the Jurassic Park franchise in 2015 when he directed Jurassic World, and now, he’s back on deck to direct Jurassic World Dominion, after passing directing duties over to J.A. Bayona for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in 2018.
