‘I’m a Celeb’: Aesha Scott Has Set Her Sights on the Win

I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here 2023 cast Aesha Scott

It’s back, baby! That’s right, I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! is back for Season 9, and as usual, it’s already bringing the laughs and chaos we’ve come to love and expect.

After two seasons of filming in northern New South Wales due to COVID, the borders are open once again, which means I’m a Celeb is back in South Africa, and coming to us live from the jungle.

Hosts Julia Morris and Dr Chris Brown are also back, and this season, the premise is simple: make it fun, make it funny, make it a good time for all involved — well, except the celebs, maybe. Having snakes dumped on you or being challenged to ingest a warthog testicle doesn’t sound like much fun to us, to be honest, but look, they knew what they were getting themselves into, right?!

But if you’ve tuned in for all the fun and found yourself thinking “sorry, who is that?” — you’re not alone. Luckily, we’ve got all the goss on who these celebs are, what they’re known for, where you’ve seen them before, and what charity they’re competing for.

One of the celebs who’s made her way to the jungle for the chance to take out the win this season is reality star Aesha Scott, who’s competing for the Cancer Council.

Who Is Aesha Scott?

Aesha Scott is a reality star who first hit the scene on Season 4 of Bravo’s Below Deck Mediterranean, which aired in 2019. Below Deck Mediterranean is a reality show that follows the lives of crew members working on a luxury yacht as they cater to the needs of wealthy charter guests.

On Below Deck Mediterranean, Aesha worked as a stewardess, and quickly became a fan favourite of the cast. She won viewers over with her quick wit, unmistakable voice and general commitment to delivering reality TV gold.

Aesha Scott’s Life Before Below Deck

Originally from New Zealand, Aesha was an obvious choice for Bravo when they launched Below Deck: Down Under, and she will soon be returning for the show’s second season.

Aesha was raised in the beautiful coastal city of Tauranga, surrounded by stunning beaches and mountains, but things weren’t always easy for her. The reality star was one of six children, and her parents split early on. Aesha’s mother battled with alcoholism, her siblings dealt with mental health challenges, and tragically, one of her brothers passed away from a brain tumour at just 23.

Still, through it all, Aesha’s family remained close-knit. Instead of tearing them apart, these adversities brought them together.

After earning a double science degree at Victoria University in Wellington, Aesha Scott began working in a kiwifruit lab.

How Aesha Scott Got Into Yachting

However, her thirst for adventure led her and her sister to Antibes, France, where they sought work on a yacht. This decision marked a turning point in Aesha’s life, as it ultimately led her to pursue a career in the yachting industry and ultimately her to Below Deck Mediterranean.

Aesha began her yachting career as a deckhand on a small boat, but quit after finding that  her tireless work wasn’t being appreciated by the difficult-to-please captain. The following year, she found work as a stewardess on a larger yacht, and worked in the industry for five years before being asked to join the cast of Below Deck.

Aesha Scott’s Hobbies and Interests

When she’s not busy taking on the high seas, you can find Aesha paragliding, striking a pose in yoga class, or hitting the pavement for a good ol’ fashioned walk.

She’s all about that vegan life — which may prove challenging on I’m a Celeb — but she’s ready for anything.

One thing about Aesha, though, is that she’s is a gal on the go. With no permanent residence to speak of, Aesha’s all about exploring new lands (and seas!) and taking in everything the world has to offer.

What Does the Cancer Council Do?

The Cancer Council is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to reducing the impact of cancer in the community.

The organisation funds cancer research, provides support to people affected by cancer, and promotes cancer prevention through public education campaigns.

More specifically, the Cancer Council provides information and resources on cancer prevention, treatment. They also offer support services, fund research projects to improve cancer treatments and therapies, and advocate for better public policies and funding for cancer prevention and treatment.

Why Aesha Scott Chose the Cancer Council

Having lost her brother Reuben to a brain tumour when he was just 23, Aesha is competing on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! for the Cancer Council.

“I chose the Cancer Council Australia… because my beautiful 23-year-old brother Reuben, we found out that he had two really large golf ball-sized tumours in his brain and they were so deep that it was much too risky to operate,” Aesha revealed on the series.

I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! airs at 7.30pm, Sunday – Thursdays, only on 10 and 10 Play on Demand.
