You Can Now Apply for ‘MasterChef Australia’ 2022 — Here’s What You Need to Know

If you’ve ever watched MasterChef Australia and thought to yourself, ‘Hey, I could do that!’, then I have two questions for you. 1) May I please come over to your place for dinner? and 2) How does winning $250,000 for your talents sound?

The applications for MasterChef Australia 2022 are now open, which means you could be one of the home chefs hoping to wow judges Jock Zonfrillo, Melissa Leong and Andy Allen with your culinary prowess in season 14 of the cooking competition.

To enter, you’ll need to have a digital photo of yourself handy and at least three photos of some amazing dishes you’ve cooked up. You also have the option of adding a video to your application in order to help the casting team get to know you a little better.

Once you have filled out your basic details, you’ll need to answer some questions to provide a sense of who you are and what you might bring to the show. For example, what your life was like growing up, what your hobbies are outside of cooking, what your greatest achievements have been and what inspired you to apply in the first place.

As you probably suspected, there is also an entire questionnaire dedicated to your cooking style and love of food with questions such as “tell us about the moment when you realised cooking was what you wanted to do and you fell in love with food” to be answered along with who your food idols are and your favourite restaurants. And, perhaps the most important question of all: How confident are you that you will be able to cook under the pressure of TV cameras?

Given how talented the MasterChef competitors are, you’d be forgiven for thinking that they are all secretly professionally trained, but the show is very strict on all applicants being amateurs. So, you’ll also need to detail any cooking experience you have had including any work you’ve done in a professional kitchen and any cooking classes you may have attended.

Oh, and if you have been on reality television or applied for MasterChef before, they’ll need to know that too — along with if you are willing and able to be potentially away from your family and friends for up to seven months. Per the website, the filming dates are between October 2021 and June 2022 for approximately 30 weeks with a break over Christmas and New Year — and you must be available for all of them.

Also worth noting is that you must be aged 18 years or above by Monday, October 18 2021 and you must also be an Australian citizen.

So, if you are keen to give the competition a red hot crack and think you have what it takes to join the esteemed halls of MasterChef Australia fame, all you need to do is head to 10Play’s website to get started on that application. You’ve got until Monday, August 9 2021 to apply. Good luck!
