It’s a widely accepted fact that the Australian music industry has had it rough over the past two years. With shutdowns that felt never-ending and the nature of the entertainment industry meaning it was the first to shut and last to reopen — there have been no shortages of challenges. Headline Acts wants to change that.
Headline Acts is a local wine brand that was created to be a music-lead brand for music lovers, and as a sweetener, it’s also giving back to the Aussie music industry and the fans who support it. Offering four light, fruity, and fresh wine varieties (rosé, rosé bubbles, sauvignon blanc, and shiraz), the bottles retail between $15 and $20, with every bottle helping to create and fund opportunities for up-and-coming Aussie bands, and the fans who support them.
Headline Acts has created a fund called Headline Access and the first instalment of the program, dubbed “The Release Cycle”, will see local, budding artists gain access to mentorships from big music industry names—like Johann Ponniah (I OH YOU Records), Johnny Took (DMA’S), The Orchard—and firsthand experience in the industry.
There are a few places you can pick up a bottle of Headline Acts wines and, in fact, you’ve probably noticed the really cool branded bottles in your local bottle-o and favourite pubs, too. Specifically, you can find it on the shelves of Liqourland, First Choice, and at independent bottle shops, as well as bars and pubs around Australia. If you’re heading to Splendour in the Grass this year, then you can also grab a glass at the bar between sets, as it’s an official sponsor of the event.
Music fans that pick up a bottle of Headline Acts will be giving back to the industry they love thanks to a partnership with live music startup Muso. Acting as the technology link between venues and artists, Muso enables both to seamlessly book and manage gigs. Via the partnership, Headline Acts is committing $150,000 to venues across the country to be injected straight into the pockets of independent musicians signed up to the app over the next 12 months.
